Foot Pressure Analysis
Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics uses the innovative Tekscan Foot Function Analysis system.
In-shoe systems like Tekscan provide detailed information about what is actually occurring inside the shoe. They are the only way to analyse the interaction between the foot and the shoe.
Evaluating plantar pressure using Tekscan provide a better understanding of foot function and a more complete gait analysis, which is then used to the design and manufacture an orthotic. Tekscan can also be used to test insoles for effectiveness and fine-tune an orthotic’s design.
Ability Prosthetics & Orthotics is currently the only practice in Queensland to combine Tekscan Foot Function Analysis with Amfit insole manufacturing technology to produce custom foot orthotics.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is foot pressure analysis?
Foot pressure analysis can be used as a diagnostic tool to measure the pressure on the foot within footwear. It can be used as a valuable tool for assessing biomechanics and identifying issues that may contribute to foot pain or injuries.
How is foot pressure analysis performed?
At Ability Prosthetics and Orthotics, our specialists employ state-of-the-art technology, such as the Tekscan in-shoe pressure analysis system, to conduct accurate and detailed foot pressure analysis. This system offers precise measurements, allowing for a comprehensive evaluation of pressure points and gait patterns.
How long does a foot pressure analysis session typically take?
A foot pressure analysis session typically lasts up to two hours. During this time, our experts meticulously assess pressure distribution, gait dynamics, and other relevant factors to provide personalised insights and recommendations.
Can foot pressure analysis help diagnose foot conditions?
Yes, foot pressure analysis is a valuable tool for orthotics in identifying various foot conditions. It complements other assessments such as medical history and physical examinations to formulate accurate diagnoses and treatment plans.
Is foot pressure analysis suitable for people of all ages?
While foot pressure analysis can benefit individuals of all age groups, it is commonly utilised in adults to address biomechanical issues and enhance orthotic interventions. However, paediatric applications are also emerging, offering valuable insights into early developmental stages and addressing paediatric foot conditions.
